Vertical Menu Widgets

This particular option can be found by logging into your site's admin area and going to:
"ProPhoto" > "Customize" > "Menus" > "Vertical Nav Menu #1, #2, or #3"

Use this area to create and edit the overall structure of a widget area Vertical Navigation Menu. This includes adding and removing links, and setting up sub menus. This is also where you can edit each individual menu item link by clicking on the ‘edit’ gear icon when hovering over a menu item.

With ProPhoto you can create both horizontal and vertical menus. The horizontal menus can be placed in various locations in your header. The vertical menus, on the other hand, can only be placed in any of the widget areas.

Creating and editing vertical nav menu items follows exactly the same process as creating primary or secondary nav menu items. The only differences are:

  • Where the menu is displayed
    – Horizontal Nav Menu = Header
    – Vertical Nav Menu = Any widget area
  • How submenus items are displayed
    – Horizontal Nav Menu = Displayed as dropdown links
    – Vertical Nav Menu = Displayed as indented submenu items that are always visible

Up to three levels of menus can be styled individually, and bullet decorations are available for each.  In the example below, you can the result of nesting menu items in a vertical menu.  Different text sizes and bullet styles have been chosen.

Creating Vertical Nav Menus

  1. Go to “ProPhoto” > “Customize” > “Menus” > “Vertical Nav. Menu #1, #2, or #3”
  2. Click “Add New Menu Item”
  3. Click the edit icon to name and edit the menu item
  4. Set your link settings and upload an icon in the “Link Display” area if so desired.  Refer to the menu settings tutorial to learn about the different link options.

  5. Click “Save Changes” and repeat this process for all your menu items.

Displaying Vertical Nav Menus

After creating your vertical menu, you need to choose in which widget area you would like it to display.

  1. Go to “Appearance” > “Widgets”
  2. Drag a ProPhoto vertical nav menu widget to a specific widget area.
  3. Select the specific menu you want to display. A title is optional.
  4. Refresh your page to see what it looks like!
